Who am I?

My name is Karine Charlebois. My birthday is on August 18. That makes me a Leo, and my ascendant is Cancer. Apparently this can already tell a lot about me to many people.

I currently work as a freelance artist-of-all-trades -- Illuistrator for roleplaying games and storyboarding for animation are a couple of the things I do, and I'm currently researching into becoming an art/animation teacher as well. I have been working in many aspects of animation since 1997. As for drawing, I've been doing that all my life, and I can't say if I ever got the feeling I was "destined" to work in an art related field -- I never thought it would be possible to work in animation here until my last year of university.

Ever since I was a little kid, I would watch TV shows and make up stories about them, and draw the characters from the show, making up my own. From Care Bears to Transformers, I was a real "Saturday Morning Cartoons" junkie. I had characters for almost each and every one of these shows. I thought I was weird, that no one did that. I learned otherwise when I got online back in 1996, looking for info about the TV show Gargoyles. That's when I found pictures of gargoyles I hadn't seen on TV, and then I learned that they were characters made up by people like me... and I found the internet a great way to find kindred spirits. :)

What else can I tell you about me? I'm a happily married woman, my husband's name is Adam, I have a huge orange female cat named Pinotte (Peanut for the anglophones), and I am very much a fancier of sushi and other Japanese dishes. I love to get together with other artist types and draw for hours on end. And I love the sound of raindrops on an awning. On the other hand, I can't stand Indian food (it's the curry!), I have a strong dislike of whiny, spoiled people who annoyingly request all your attention, and I hate the winter cold and snow. I love where I live, Montreal is beautiful, but it's cold in the winter. :P
